Approximately $5 million is available for Clean Cities Special Projects through the State Energy Offices under this program. To qualify for Special Projects grants, you must be a member of a designated Clean Cities Coalition.

Proposals are being developed and written by members under Clean Cities/Alternative Fuels topic. Proposals are due April 25 to the coalition and due April 28 to the Florida Energy Office. The Clean Cities/Alternative Fuels topic had four topics dealing with infrastructure, vehicles, school buses and coalition support. Stakeholders interested on participating should contact Bill Young for more information and application forms.

AFV Odyssey Day Workshop

SC3 is planning a workshop on Alternative Fuel Technology for June 6 and 7 at the Florida Solar Energy Center. This AFV Advancing the Choice workshop will be a joint effort by SC3, the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium, Traviss Technical Center and various auto manufactures. The workshop will cover compressed natural gas, ethanol and hybrid vehicle technologies.

Friday activities are focused on fleet managers and Saturday activities are focused on the general public. Auto manufactures will exhibit the latest vehicles and present information the their products. Awards will be present for vehicles with the cleanest emissions and traveling the farthest distance in an AFV. The event is free to the public. See our web page calender for the Agenda.

Do you need something to read?

Florida Solar Energy Center with assistance from our coalition wrote three new documents on AFV technology at the direction of the Clean Fuels Florida Advisory Board. The three different documents are written for three different audiences to provide AFV education to generate awareness and promote implementation of AFVs in Florida. The documents were designed to be used by fleet managers, businesses, educational institutions, students, government organizations and the general public. The documents are as follows:

  • Take a Trip to Clean Air: coloring book on AFVs
  • The Path to Alternative Transportation in Florida: flyer on regulations
  • A Guide to Alternative Fuel Transportation in Florida: brochure on general AFV technology

Printed copies can be obtained upon request, but electronic copies are available on our web page on Documents.

As always, check our web page calender monthly for the latest events.
