There
is a new vehicle in town
What new vehicle? A Toyota Rav4 Electric Vehicle...
Where is it? At the Florida Solar Energy Center...
Who has it? Space Coast Clean Cities Coordinator...
Where did it come from? The 7th National Clean Cities Conference...
At the recent National Clean Cities Conference held in
Philadelphia, several Coalitions were selected to demonstrate
and evaluate various alternative fuel vehicles for one year.
The Department of Energy and several auto manufactures joined
forces to provide a limited number of coalition coordinators
with AFVs to evaluate first hand and use in coalition outreach
activities. Our coalition was one of ten coalitions selected
to demonstrate a Toyota Rav4 Electric Vehicle under a no
cost lease agreement to the coalition, thanks to Toyota.
The coalition coordinator is to report to Toyota and DOE
on the performance of the vehicle in coalition activities.
The vehicle is an SUV, remanufactured by Toyota as an electric
vehicle. It does highway speeds and has a range of 80-90
miles. The vehicle comes with all of the usual comforts
of conventional gasoline cars.
The vehicle is on display at the Florida Solar Energy Center,
the home of Space Coast Clean Cities Coalition. The vehicle
is available for demonstration at conferences, exhibits,
workshops, fairs and other events. For further information
contact Bill Young
(321) 638-1443.
