Grants
available for AFV projects
This
years Request for Proposals (RFP) from U.S. Department
of Energy for the (2004) State Energy Program is out.
Approximately $ 5 million is available for Clean Cities
Special Projects through the Florida Energy Office under
this program. To qualify for Special Projects grants,
you must be a member of a designated Clean Cities Coalition.
Last year, SC3 was awarded a $10,000 grant to upgrade
the card reader on the Titusville CNG fueling station.
Proposals
are being developed and written by members under Clean
Cities/Alternative Fuels topic. Proposals are due in
February to the Florida Energy Office. The Clean Cities/Alternative
Fuels topic had four topics dealing with infrastructure,
vehicles, school buses and coalition support. Stakeholders
interested on participating should contact Bill Young
for more information and application forms.
Clean Air Award
The
Central Florida Clean Air Team sponsors an annual awards
program to raise awareness of air quality issues by showcasing
best practices or new technology being developed or utilized
by companies in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.
SC3 is a member of the Clean Air Team.
This
years winner was University of Central Florida for a
new student shuttle bus program to reduce air pollution.
The program keep 4,000 vehicles off the campus and local
street by providing students with a free shuttle service.
The service operates five days a week funded by activity

Elects for
New SC3 Board of Directors
A
new Board of Director for Space Coast Clean Cities Coalition
will be elected into office this January 14. The Board
is divided into four sectors representing different areas
of the interest in alternative fuels vehicles.

AFV Odyssey
Day Workshop
Need
to learn more about AFVs? Then attend our AFV Odyssey
Day Workshop on April 2. SC3 is planning to conduct this
Alternative Fuel Technology workshop at the Florida Solar
Energy Center. This AFV Advancing the Choice structured
workshop will be a joint effort by SC3, the National
Alternative Fuels Training Consortium, Traviss Technical
Center and various auto manufactures. The workshop will
cover compressed natural gas, ethanol and hybrid vehicle
technologies.
Friday
workshop activities are focused on fleet managers, but
the general public may attend. Auto manufactures will
exhibit the latest vehicles and present information the

National
Clean Cities Conference
The
10th DOE National Clean Cities Conference will be conducted
here in Florida on May 2-5. Gold Coast Coalition will
host the conference in Ft. Lauderdale at the Broward
County Convention Center. See you there.
